Accessibility Statement - Abraham Hostel Jerusalem

The Abraham Hostel Jerusalem makes every effort and invests a great deal of resources to provide customers with equitable, respectful, accessible and professional service. In accordance with the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law, 5758-1998 and the regulations enacted under it, considerable efforts and resources are invested in making the necessary accessibility adjustments so that persons with disabilities can enjoy the services offered to all
customers in an autonomous and equitable manner.

The building's accessibility arrangements

The following are the accessibility arrangements that exist at the Abraham Hostel Jerusalem
located on 67 HaNevi’im Street in Jerusalem.

Accessible parking spaces

There are parking spaces for persons with disabilities in the Mesilat Yesharim parking lot (5 parking spaces of paid parking) adjacent to the Abraham Hostel, including a parking space for a high vehicle. The parking lot is adjacent to the hostel entrance.  In addition, there are another 3 municipal parking spaces at 4 Pines Street and 17 Pines Street, 200 meters from the hostel.

Access routes

There is an accessible ramp outside the hostel offering accessible entry
directly into the hostel.

Accessible reception desk

The reception desk has a hearing loop (audio induction loop) for hostel guests with a hearing disability. At the guest’s request, the guest is given a folder to sign that is used away from the reception desk.
There is a lowered and adapted reception desk.

Main entrance

The distance from the parking to the hostel is about 50 meters. Arrangements can be made for attendants to drop passengers off at the main entrance.

The width of the entrance door is 110 cm

Public toilets for persons with disabilities

There are accessible toilets in public areas.
The toilets are located on the first floor in the lounge area.
There is a swing-up grab bar.
There is a fixed wall-mounted grab bar.
The door width is 90 cm.

There is a stair lift to help persons with disabilities in a wheelchair to
ascend the stairs at the main entrance as far as the elevator.

The dining room

The dining room and the lounge in which most of the hostel activities are held are in one large space, separated only by different interior design and furnishings.
The dining room and the lounge are accessible, including smooth passage from the elevators.
The dining room has accessible furnishings, chairs and tables, adapted to people with a movement disability and these are marked accordingly.
The height of the breakfast buffet is 80 cm. Assistance can be requested from the staff.
At breakfast, there are employees present who can provide assistance at the request of a customer with a disability.
An accessible menu can be requested that is easier to read, or staff can be asked to read out the menu.
Auxiliary kits for persons with a hearing impairment are located in the areas where service is provided: at the hostel reception desk (on the
lobby floor).

Additional services

If the need arises, a guest can approach the service representatives at the booths to help fill out forms.
At the guest’s request, furniture can be shifted in the adapted guestroom.
At the guest’s request, assistance is provided in obtaining/ returning towels.
At the guest’s request, guests with a visual disability can be escorted and given assistance.

Accessible Customer Service

Accessible service training for employees: training is conducted to acquaint employees with the issue of accessibility, to create awareness about accessibility among employees, and to equip them with practical tools to provide accessible service.
Accessible call center – the voice response has been made accessible by delivering the information in clear language without background music.
